Joe S is a sensational young musician from the humble area of County Laois, Ireland. Joe has a unique melody and indie folk rock sound.
Born in Dublin in the early 90′s Joe started to write and play music from a young age.
Teaching himself how to play guitar and joining many bands, Joe was influnced by artists such as Tracy Chapman, Damien Dempsey and Simon Neil. Joe began to write intricate lyrical songs such as The Journey and Content and began to think seriously about a future in music.
As the lead singer and main song writer of Offaly based hard rock band Listen Up, Joe S continued to write music as well as heading the band which rose steadily from playing Parish Halls to the renowned Dublin venues, Whelan’s, The Sugar Club and Fibber Magee’s.
As well as writing and singing with Listen Up, Joe embarked on his first solo project in the summer of 2012. This was when his love of acoustic music developed.
But in early 2013, Listen Up parted ways and Joe focussed soley on the production of his original music. Never one to sit still Joe, drawn to it’s thriving music scene, moved to Laois and started to write songs for what was to become his first major studio album, Friends Home Love.
In early October 2013, after a successful fundraising campaign, Joe S walked into a local recording studio and started to lay down tracks for his debut album. After weeks spent in studio recording tracks and countless hours on production, Joe S released Friends Home Love, independently on December 1st 2013 at the age of 19.
With Friends Home Love receiving great reviews and now available on iTunes and in stores nationwide, Joe started off 2014 playing a number of charity gigs for Autism, drawing in huge crowds and raising hundreds each night.
On March 9th 2014, Joe S released his first official music video for the song Turn Away and began a nationwide tour to support it.
Playing from Laois, Offaly and Meath all the way to Dublin and as far as Cavan, Joe spent the next two years performing major festivals, headlining renowned venues and supporting esteemed Irish artists such as Mundy and Frantic Jack.
In the fall of 2016 after a successful Summer touring- and inspired by human rights movements across the world, Joe began writing what was to become his second official studio release; Kings and Kaisers. Receiving sponsorship from Anthem Music and after another successful fundraising campaign, Joe began self producing the three track EP.
Kings and Kaisers was released on February 1st, 2017 and on February 10th, Joe officially launched the EP to a roaring audience in The Square Bar, Portlaoise.
